Il cuore di Cingoli è piazza Vittorio Emanuele II su cui si affacciano il Municipio e la Cattedrale.
Da via dello Spineto ha inizio una stradina dalla quale si ammira il quartiere della Polisena, il più antico della città, con le sue viuzze scoscese selciate a pietre irregolari e le rustiche casupole non intonacate. Via Maggiore è l’arteria principale, ed è fiancheggiata da notevoli palazzi nobiliari. A metà della via, sulla destra, appare la bellissima Fontana di Maltempo, presumibilmente così chiamata perché quando era alimentata soltanto da un’esile vena, l’acqua scaturiva soltanto dopo abbondanti acquazzoni.
La cache è posizionata presso la Porta del Tasso (detta Portella), uno degli antichi accessi al centro storico: da cui si vede il complesso monastico e ospedaliero di santa Caterina, quello francescano di S.Giacomo e la Macchia di Tassinete, l'area floristica protetta.
The heart of Cingoli is Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II overlooked by the Town Hall and the Cathedral. From Via dello Spineto begins a small street from which you can admire the Polisena district, the oldest of the city, with its steep alleys cobbled with irregular stoned and rustic unplastered houses. Via Maggiore is the main artery and is flanked by remarkable noble palaces. In the middle of the street, on the right, the beautiful “Fontana di Maltempo” (Fountain of Bad Weather) appears, presumably so called because when it was powered only by a weak vein, the water gushed only after heavy showers.
The cache is located at Porta del Tasso (Portella), one of the ancient entrances to the historic center: from here you can see the monastic and hospital complex of Santa Caterina, the Franciscan complex of San Giacomo and the Macchia di Tassinete, the protected floristic area.
