Da lontano, il borgo di Montecassiano appare quasi mistico sul colle sul quale si adagia. Sarà per le tante confraternite che nei secoli passati hanno conservato e restaurato chiese e opere d’arte, e che ancora oggi accompagnano le processioni con i loro camici colorati, gli stendardi e i crocefissi cesellati gelosamente custoditi nella seicentesca chiesa di San Giacomo, oggi museo delle Confraternite.
La cache è posizionata al termine del Sentiero della Memoria, realizzato per commemorare una pagina drammatica della storia di Montecassiano risalente alla seconda guerra mondiale. Il luogo è paesaggisticamente molto suggestivo, e allo stesso tempo richiede di essere visitato con rispetto.
From a distance, Montecassiano appears almost mystical on the hill on which it lies. It may be for the many confraternities that in the past centuries have preserved and restored churches and works of art, and that still today accompany the processions with their coloured gowns, banners and the chiselled crucifixes jealously guarded in the seventeenth-century church of St. James, today’s Museum of Confraternities.
The cache is located at the end of the Sentiero della Memoria, created to commemorate a dramatic page in the history of Montecassiano dating back to the Second World War. The place is very suggestive from a landscape point of view, and at the same time it requires to be visited with respect.
