Geocache Description:

Depending on where you're from there are many different ways to talk about the oh so popular carbonated beverage-soda. Soft drinks are called "soft" as opposed to "hard" alcoholic drinks, whether it be from a can, plastic bottle, glass bottle or fountain we all seem to have our favorite way to drink it. In 1767 Englishman Joseph Priestly first discovered a method of infusing water with carbon dioxide to make carbonated water. This invention known as soda water is the main component in most soft drinks.
From the 1700's to the current day there have been countless varieties made and enjoyed, no matter what you may call it whether it be soda, soda pop, pop, cola, etc. the history of this carbonated beverage is a long and interesting one.
