Geocache Description:

This is number 2 of 10 in this geocache series based on the TV show Red Dwarf.
Most caches have bonus information in them for the coordinates of the tenth mystery cache.

Arnold Rimmer, Technician, 2nd Class

Arnold Rimmer, played by Chris Barrie in the TV Series, was killed by a radiation leak along with most of the crew of the Red Dwarf. Arnold Rimmer lives on as a hologram and has an 'H' on his forehead to signify this. He is a 2nd class technician and is hated by many of the crew members and consequently many pranks are played on him.

A quote from one episode by Holly, the ships computer, Arnold Rimmer, Technician, 2nd Class. Captain's remarks: “There’s a saying amongst the officers: If a job’s worth doing, it’s worth doing well. If it’s not worth doing, give it to Rimmer.” Promotion prospects: comical.

Finding This Series

This cache is a clip-lock box with a log book, some swappables and a pencil. On leaving cache #1 Lister, continue down the farm track and turn right after the haybarn though the farmyard, then immediately turn left past the farmhouse. Before reaching the gate out of the farm turn right to get to the listed coordinates of this cache.

Starting from either parking waypoint, it is necessary to walk for a short distance on a busy road so please take care with children and animals at all times.

Walking the whole series is best done in numerical order. The route is almost circular but from cache #7 it will be necessary to back-track past #6 to reach #8, after which the route is straightforward again. Some parts of the series are on good road surfaces, but the majority of the walk is over fields used by livestock and so the paths can get muddy and very waterlogged. Wear appropriate footwear and follow the Countryside Code, keeping dogs on a lead at all times.

The complete circuit is 4km long and should take about 1¾ hours. We welcome logs highlighting any issues or any suggestions you have to improve the cache or the series. Good luck everyone!
