Il nome del borgo di Esanatoglia deriva da Esus, il dio celtico della guerra, da cui il nome del fiume Esino, sulle cui rive si presume sia sorto in età romana il primo insediamento, Aesa.
Dal Medioevo alla fine dell’Ottocento il borgo si chiamava Santa Anatolia, in onore della Santa Patrona, martire del III secolo d.C. Nel 1862, dalla combinazione di Aesa e Anatolia, fu coniato l’attuale nome Esanatoglia.
La cache è posizionata nei pressi di due cascate del fiume Esino.
The name of the village of Esanatoglia comes from Esus, the Celtic god of war, hence the name of the river Esino, on whose banks it is assumed that the first settlement, Aesa, arose in Roman age. From the Middle Ages to the end of the nineteenth century, the village was called St. Anatolia, in honour of the Patron Saint, martyr of the III century AD.
In 1862, the current name Esanatoglia was coined from the combination of Aesa and Anatolia.
The cache is placed near t20 waterfalls of Esino river.
