Welcome to Alamance County's newest natural area, opened May of 2020. Cane Creek Mountains Natural Area is a new nature park that provides public access to Alamance County’s largest state-significant natural heritage area. Hikers will enjoy rolling piedmont hills, abundant creeks and streams, and some of the best views in the County. The natural area is home to the highest peak in North Carolina east of Greensboro at 987 feet. The park is currently a work in progress, with additional trails & ammenities planned, but at this time does contain a 2.5 mile loop. Trailhead is accessed from the parking lot at the end of the gravel drive.
Placed this cache on a warm sunny day, after crossing the "wasteland" on the way to nearby Rusty Wreck. Best accessed via the old ATV trail from the end of the parking lot. You can likely bushwack from the trail should you so desire, but this will make for an easier walk. You're looking for a medium to regular sized container.
