鹿沼市の前日光にある標高約１３００mに象の鼻という岩があります。
この岩は、花こう岩の巨大なもので、象の顔によく似ていることから「象の鼻」といわれています。花こう岩は、中世代後期（６０００万年〜１億年前）に、地下の深いところから上昇してきたマグマが、ゆっくりと冷えて固まった岩で、石英、長石、黒雲母の３種の鉱物からなっています。前日光高原一帯の山々の基岩は花こう岩が主体になっています。象の鼻近くにキャッシュを設置しました。

There is a rock called Elephant's Nose at an altitude of about 1300 meters in Mae nikko, Kanuma City.
This rock is a huge piece of granite, and is called "elephant's nose" because it closely resembles the face of an elephant. The granite is made up of three minerals, quartz, feldspar, and biotite, which were formed by magma that rose from deep underground in the late middle generation (60 to 100 million years ago) and slowly cooled and solidified.
