Geocache Description:

Several years ago we had placed a cache series near bodies of water in Danbury. We're reviving the series, this time with the help of our kiddo!

Parking on South King Street - there's a small pull off at the top of the gravel pathway. You can also park at the nearby school and do several caches in the nature center there, then make your way around the lake to this one.

Container is medium to large size, we left some little tchotchkes. There's plenty of room for travel bugs! It's our hope to create kid friendly caches filled with little treasures.

Some history on the lake:

The Kohanza Reservoir was a reservoir in Danbury, CT. Construction was completed in 1866. It was the first of many reservoirs built to supply Danbury's hat factories. The dam broke on January 31, 1869. The ensuing flood of ice and water killed 11 people in half an hour, and caused major damage to many homes and farms, as well as uprooting trees and moving boulders.

The reservoir still exists in two smaller sections: Upper Kohanza Lake & Lower Kohanza Lake.
