The main paths in Beecraigs are good, broad paths. However, some of the lesser-used paths can be very muddy at times. Please wear appropriate footwear as this wander takes you to some of the smaller pathways.

We have taken a minimum of three average readings on three different devices but please bear in mind as GPS accuracy can vary due to tree cover.   Additionally mobile phone signal can be poor so if you use a smartphone for geocaching, it is advisable to save the caches offline.   Public WiFi can be found in the Visitor Centre along with a cafe and public toilets.

More information about the park and car park opening times can be found here on the website.

Many thanks to the Ranger Service for permission to place this geocache and for their support of our hobby.

The Cache:  This geocache type is a Letterbox Hybrid and is based on an older kind of container search, called letterboxing. Letterboxing began in 1854 and as this was before GPS existed, the finder follows written instructions to discover the container.

Each letterbox contains a logbook and a rubber stamp. When the container is found, you can stamp the logbook with your personal stamp, and also stamp your own notebook with the stamp from the letterbox as a souvenir of their visit. The stamp and logbook must remain in the letterbox for the next visitor to use.  If you do not have a personal stamp, the logbook should be signed as normal.

The geocache is not at the listed coordinates.  You will need to follow the directions to get to the final location.

Directions:  From the listed coordinates, walk approximately 475 metres west along the Southern Boundary Path.  You will come to a 'gap' in the dry stane dyke where the path continues west 'through' the wall.  At this point turn right (north) keeping the wall on your right-hand side.   Walk down the track for approximately 60 paces until you come to a clearing on the left-hand side of the path.  A multitrunked beech at the edge of the path is a good marker.   Cross the ditch and look to your left (south) for a large twin trunked pine tree.  Your prize awaits you there.
