The Imperial Capital Restoration Agency was started on September 2, the day after the Great Kanto Earthquake of September 1, 1923, and was discussed together with the proposed Ministry of Imperial Capital Restoration. The Imperial Reconstruction Agency was established on September 27, 1923, by the cabinet of Gonbei Yamamoto. On February 25, 1924, the Imperial Reconstruction Agency was abolished and the Imperial Reconstruction Project was taken over by the Reconstruction Bureau, which was established as an external bureau of the Ministry of the Interior. The Bureau of Reconstruction was reorganized into the Bureau of Reconstruction on April 1, 1930, and the Bureau of Reconstruction was abolished on April 1, 1932, bringing the curtain down on the reconstruction project that lasted about nine years.
In Yokohama, there are many bridges built by the Bureau of Reconstruction as major structures here and there. If you are interested, please look for them.
The Sanno Bridge also has a plaque saying that it was built by the Reconstruction Bureau.

帝都復興院は、1923年9月1日に起こった関東大震災翌日の2日より、帝都復興省案とともに検討され、9月27日に山本権兵衛内閣により設置された日本の政府機関で、内閣総理大臣直属の政府機関として、総裁官房・計画局・土地整理局・土木局・建築局・経理局・物資供給局が置かれ、内務省、鉄道省その他から有能な技術者を集めて、帝都復興事業に取り組んだ。1924年（大正13年）2月25日に帝都復興院は廃止され、帝都復興事業は内務省の外局として設置された復興局に引き継がれた。なお復興局は1930年（昭和5年）4月1日に復興事務局に改組され、1932年（昭和7年）4月1日に復興事務局も廃止され、約9年に及ぶ復興事業は幕を下ろしました。
横浜にはあちらこちらに主要な建造物として復興局により建造された橋などがあります。興味がありましたら探してみてください。
ここ、山王橋にも「復興局建造」のプレートがあります、手抜きなど一切見られないすばらしい工事だと思います。
