"CAMPAIGN TO VICKSBURG"

As a Park Ranger, Historian, and reciepent of an Adventure Lab Cache, I wanted to hide something that was both fun and challenging for you the cacher.  Many visitors to Vicksburg National Military Park often come to the battlefield and after their tour want to go in deptht to other sites associated with the Vicksburg Campaign; therefore, I created this lab cache to follow Grant's Army on their journey through Mississippi from the Mississippi River at Bruinsburg to the Big Black River Bridge then on to Vicksburg. 

This adventure lab will take you to five major battlefields (Port Gibson, Raymond, Jackson, Champion Hill, and Big Black River Bridge) that were necessary for Grant to win in order to lay siege to Pemberton's Confederate forces in Vicksburg. The cache is organized in a chronological loop route that starts and ends in Vicksburg. From the Visitor Center, you will drive over 150 miles to complete this adventure lab. It's not as daunting as what Grant's Army endured during the campaign, as they made the journey on foot over 17 days, and no rebels will be shooting at you as you progress. Do not fret, the whole drive can be done in about 4 hours, but give yourself some extra time for exploration (and caching) along the way. This cache makes for a great day trip if you have a couple of days in the Vicksburg area and want to hit the road on an adventure. 

FYI: Cell phone coverage may be spotty in places, but when I tested the adventure lab, I had enough service at all locations to answer the questions and watch the associated videos within the module.
