Geocache Description:

A 1.2 mile loop hike in a historical park.

Fort Hoskins Historical Park is located in the Hoskins valley above the Luckiamute river. It honors the original inhabitants, and the subsequent settlement and logging history of the area.

From the picnic shelter, you will look down and see the .6 mile paved interpretive trail through the archaeological and historic area. I encourage you to take this loop before or after finding the cache to learn about the history of the valley. The cache is located behind you-up the hill. It is near the highest point of the 1.2 mile recreational loop trail, which has a moderate 350 ft elevation gain over 1/2 mile. The trail begins across from the restrooms. Parts of this trail may be slippery during the wet season.

I received permission from the Benton County Parks manager to place the cache. Please do not bushwack or disturb any archaeological sites during your visit. The treasure is in a largish green plastic container just a few steps from the trail. There is no poison oak nearby, just a bit of the low trailing blackberry. When you are finished with your trade, be sure to re-place the container hidden from view.
