Old cemeteries have always fascinated me. I see gravestones dating way back in time and in this cemetery I've seen some of the oldest graves anywhere in Oregon. It is off the beaten path and one will ask "what did these people do in the area in the 1800s?" There are only a handfull of headstones left. It's quite possible many were moved to newer cemeteries. This is a very short two stage multi cache. At stage one you will see the cemetery sign. It has changed from it's original name of Oakridge Pioneer Cemetery to a name honoring an early pioneer. From that sign use your compass and walk 35 paces due north or about 100 ft. There you will find a tombstone, a real stone headstone. The cache is near there. There are no graves near this one and please be respectful of the few graves found in this cemetery. The grounds are overgrown so use caution while walking.
