SLAGA_STL: This cache has been at Castlewood SP for over 3 years and the last 2 years with the park permit. We've decided not to renew the permit again this year so the cache has been removed. This is a wonderful park with lots of caching opportunities, so hopefully others will place a cache or 2 back in this area.

Geocache Description:

This cache was placed in honor of the 2nd annual St. Louis Area Geocachers Assn. picnic on Oct. 12, 2002 and located in Castlewood State Park.

After a great day of meeting old and new friends, telling stories, eating food, winning prizes, and just an all around fun day, the last event of the day was to hide the picnic cache.

Konopapw donated the ammo box which was loaded with goodies, trinkets, and travel bugs brought by lots of the members. Then K-Team and Mean Gene went off to hide the cache and brought back the coordinates so we could post this cache.

Richard Love, the Castlewood Park Superintendant even stopped by near the end of the day to give us some encouragement and welcomed us back for any of our gatherings.

A special thanks to everyone who participated in this event to make it a special day for all of us and to Konopapw for spearheading the whole picnic and making sure everything went off without a hitch.
