Geocache Description:

(English below)

Spoilers for Skatteøen forude!)

Tillykke til A. Schilling med First To Find!

For at identificere cachen kan det godt betale sig at se på cache-ejers navn. Obs!

----------

Geocaching is, in our opinion, the world's best treasure hunt, and the literature is full of spectacular treasures with gold and precious stones. So what's more appropriate than a series of TeamGuldske (team golden spoon) about gold and adventure?

# 1 Treasure Island

(Ahoy, landlubber! Spoilers for Treasure Island ahead!)

Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson from 1883 is the most famous story about pirate treasures. Several classic elements, which today are firmly ingrained in an understanding of a real pirate adventure, originate from Treasure Island. Both the parrot on the shoulder of Long John Silver, the frayed treasure card with a large X marking the treasure and the "black spot" as a warning of mutiny, are from this tale.

In Denmark, Treasure Island is probably best known from Sebastian's iconic musical with songs that everyone can sing along to. Including the glorious Cheese Song, which emphasizes the book's indisputable point that even the worst predicament can be solved with a good piece of Parmesan cheese.

The book's treasure is buried by the infamous Captain Flint, and only the valuables exceeded the captain's reputation. For his ship was so laden with gold and silver that it was almost ready to sink. In the book, Jim Hawkins, Doctor Livesey and Squire Trelawney fight the pirates, led by Long John Silver, over the huge treasure. When they finally find it, it takes three days to load it on the ship Hispaniola - even without taking the silver with them!

Fun facts: Captain Flint also had a habit of singing "15 men on a dead man's chest, yohoho and a bottle of rum" - and Silver's parrot Flint (not to be confused with Captain Flint) can be heard squawking "pieces of eight, pieces of eight".

Congratulations to A. Schilling who was First To Find!

To determine the cache, it pays to look at the name of the cache owner. NB! Log is only approved when the physical log is signed. A pair of tweezers may be useful.
