Hier aan de Marledijk 2 in Marle is al sinds jaar en dag het kleinste en misschien ook wel het bekendste stembureau van Nederland gevestigd.
Marle is een buurtschap in de gemeente Olst-Wijhe en ligt in een stukje Overijssel aan de westkant van de IJssel, omgeven door Gelders gebied. In 1948 krijgt de familie Westhoff de vraag of er op de boerderij een stemlokaal mag worden ingericht, zodat de inwoners van de buurtschap de IJssel niet hoeven oversteken om hun stem uit te brengen.
En zo verandert sinds die tijd de huiskamer tijdens verkiezingen in een stemlokaal. Doordat er maar rond de 50 stemgerechtigden zijn wordt dit het kleinste stembureau van Nederland genoemd. De familie Westhoff verplaatst wat meubilair in de woonkamer, zet er een stemhokje, tafel en stembus in, maar laat de bank en een paar stoelen staan. Na het stemmen kunnen de stemgerechtigden van Marle hier even gezellig gaan zitten met een kopje koffie. Komen ze rond een uur of vijf, dan krijgen ze een borrel.
Marle heeft altijd een opkomst van boven de 100%; in 2017 met 131 stemmen zelfs een recordopkomst van 279%. Er zijn nogal wat mensen die het leuk en interessant vinden om in het kleinste stembureau van Nederland hun stem uit te brengen. De regionale en nationale media zijn ook altijd aanwezig; soms trekt het stembureau meer verslaggevers dan stemgerechtigden. In 2014 en 2017 zond Q-music de ochtendshow van Mattie & Wietze zelfs live uit vanuit de keuken.
In 2021 werd er om aan alle Coronamaatregelen te voldoen eenmalig uitgeweken naar de naastgelegen schuur.

Cache: The smallest polling station in the Netherlands
The smallest and perhaps the most famous polling station in the Netherlands has been located here at Marledijk 2 in Marle for many years.
Marle is a hamlet in the municipality of Olst-Wijhe and is located in a part of Overijssel on the west side of the IJssel, surrounded by the province of Gelderland. In 1948, the Westhoff family was asked whether a polling station could be set up on the farm, so that the residents of Marle did not have to cross the IJssel to cast their vote.
And so, since that time, the living room has turned into a polling station during elections. Because there are only around 50 people entitled to vote, this is called the smallest polling station in the Netherlands. The Westhoff family moves some furniture in the living room, puts in a voting booth, table and ballot box, but leaves the sofa and a few chairs. After voting, Marle's voters can sit down and have a cup of coffee. When they arrive around five o'clock, they get a drink (‘borrel’ in Dutch).
Marle always has a turnout of over 100%; in 2017 with 131 votes even a record turnout of 279%. Quite a few people find it fun and interesting to vote in the smallest polling station in the Netherlands. The regional and national media are also always present; sometimes the polling station attracts more reporters than voters. In 2014 and 2017, the Dutch national radio station Q-music even broadcasted their daily morning show live from the kitchen.
In 2021, to comply with all Corona measures, there was a one-time refuge to the adjacent barn.
