Hawks Nest Dam Cache
Nestled between Hawks Nest State Park and the Cotton Hill Wildlife Management Area you will find the Cotton Hill public fishing access area. This hike will provide you with views of the New River and the Hawks Nest Dam.
From Rt. 60 turn off onto Rt.16 before you cross the bridge taking you over the New River you will see a small parking lot with a large rock. Parking area is beside the rock.
For approximately .8 miles out the trail your terrain is flat and graveled until you reach the area of the cache. Then some bushwacking and boulder crawling will be required.
Due to seasonal trail closures and occasional dam maintenance this cache may require planning depending on the time of year you attempt the cache. In summer long pants and bug spray recommended. Winter time could see snow and ice in the area.
Cache contains plenty of swag and a FTF prize.
