There is a wonderful little trout pond in Fort Kent, Alberta, adjacent to Lakeland Agricultural Research Association (L.A.R.A) that is free and accessible to the public year round. This pond is within sight of highway 28, and is connected to the Iron Horse Trail, so it is easy to get to. It is a great little spot to take youngsters who want to go fishing without the need for a boat or fancy gear. There is a farm style gazebo on site that is constructed from a large metal grain bin to seek shelter if it starts to rain. The pond is typically well stocked and airated if you do want to fish. If fishing does not work out, sharpen your skills with the compass, and try to catch a geocache!
