The Mary Valley Rail Trail is an unsealed trail linking the townships of Imbil and Brooloo, using part of the former historical Mary Valley branch line with a distance of 4.7km in total along the former railway corridor alignment.
You can start this power trail at either end, Brooloo or Imbil, however we have numbered the caches from the Brooloo end as there are many sources of refreshment in Imbil where you can recharge halfway through your walk, turn around then take the trail back.
A colony of over 150 bell miners or bellbirds resides in this location, and the high-pitched tinkling chimes you can hear are these birds calling. This area is officially called George Burtenshaw Feature Protection Area Bellbird Habitat. The Mary Valley is the northern limit of this bird and various colonies are dispersed throughout the district. Their habitat is mixed eucalypt forests in coastal and mountainous areas from here to Melbourne. They are known to remain in the same areas permanently, only moving as a result of impacts on their habitats such as bushfire or land clearing.
You are seeking an easy nano on the sign. At the time of placing there were a couple of travelling Qld Rocks rocks here.Â
CONGRATULATIONS to Janetwil on FTF!!
