A barrage with floodgates was built across the narrow channel linking Torbay Inlet and Lake Manarup in 1912 to unsuccessfully try and prevent flooding of salt warer back onto farmland. This area at th floodgates was popular for fishing, swimming and picnics There was notible controversy between the farmers and fishing about this construction. On January 10 1949 the floodgates where burnt but a small footbridge remained until this also was burnta short time after. There are only a few pieces of this structure still visible at this site along with a well hidden camping area. A sandbar exists across the mouth of the estuary for most of the year, but it is often breached following heavy rainfall. The cache is a well hidden small bison tube. Please keep a eyeout for the muggles and ensure the cache is securly placed back into position. Please bring your own pencil.
