While Church was creating Crown Hill Road, his mother-in-law, Emma Carnes, wrote: “Mr. C is making another drive, thinks it’s a secret!” Well the secret has been out for awhile now for our walking pleasure. Be sure to continue up to the top where you’ll have a view of Olana itself. You’ll be able to see the farm, studio and mansion locations.
While checking out the cache, also check out the picture of Frederic Church’s “Catskill Mountains from home of the Artist” done around 1871 inside. However, please leave it in the cache and do not take it with you.
