Once upon a time there was a postie who had a very large delivery and despite having to carry a very heavy bag they had to go back to the sorting office several times to be able to complete their rounds. This clever postie came up with a master plan of having a box half way through their round which could be filled by a friendly colleague driving past in a van, saving a trip (or two) back to the sorting office. And so, the Royal Mail grey boxes were created and the postie lived happily ever after. Well, maybe not just like that. The grey box with Royal Mail on the front is close to the cache - once you start seeing them, you will see them everywhere. Thanks to the Nanoblitz cache keeper in Stourbridge who opened our eyes to these grey boxes and their purpose.
