This cache is part of the 2021 Taconic Region Geocaching Challenge. The NYS Parks Saratoga-Capital Region and the Central Region will be hosting a similar challenge!! Find 45 challenge caches in the Taconic Region and stamp your passport to earn a trackable geo-coin. Ten caches found in the Sara-Cap and/or Central Region Challenge can be used toward the Taconic Challenge. This cache contains a unique stamp which must stay with the cache. Use this stamp to mark your passport. This stamp is NOT a trade item.

In 1909 New York aquired several farms and created the Mohansic State Hospital. The hospital was closed in 1819 due to concerns over pollution to the New York City water supply. A law was then passed to turn this land into a state reservation. In 1922 New York State sold the Mohansic Lake Reservation to Westchester County for $1.00. The reservation was renamed the Mohansic Park. In 1957 Westchester County returned the Mohansic Park to New York State. The park was renamed again in 1982 as Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park in honor of the centennial of the former president's birth.
