Stop along the park access road and reflect upon the history of the Nine-Mile Tree, a giant elm that once served as a natural lighthouse to guide river traffic on the approaches to Albany. Two things to be cautious of as you visit the tree: first, duck your head as you pass that large, low arching branch, and second, stay clear of the thick, hairy poison ivy vines climbing the tree.
Note: closest official parking is at the Park Office half a mile South of the cache. However, there is room to pull off safely on either side of the road near the cache which is allowed for a quick park and grab.
This cache is not part of the 2021 NYS Parks Saratoga/Capital District Regional Geocache Challenge. It has been placed for your geocaching pleasure. Enjoy!
