Many explorers spent entire lifetimes looking for the elusive Fountain of Youth, such as Juan Ponce de León in the 16th century. Central America and the Caribbean were meticulously searched for the legendary Fountain of Youth, but I think it's been right under our noses this whole time. A city named Fountain, which happens to be the sinkhole capital of the world, and has many caves and aquifers underground? I think it's obvious.
For an actual description of the history and geology behind this area and its sinkholes, check out Accordiongal's nearby Earthcache, and don't forget to grab it while you're in the area (it's only a short walk).

Note: This cache is located in a publically accessible sinkhole, specifically in a wayside rest just off US-52. It is surrounded by a fence but there are multiple places where you can enter, such as the fence gate near the gazebo. It is quite a steep descent down, and the terrain rating can go up significantly with spring runoff or snow and ice. On top of all that, this particular sinkhole is riddled with lots of thorns. If you slip, it will not be a fun fall. So, please use caution and common sense.
The cache is on the smaller end of regular size, located in a spot where it is safe from future erosion and debris. Keep this in mind when you conduct your search and please be sure to replace it as found so the cache does not end up rolling down to the very bottom. Have fun and be sure to stay safe.
