Since there wasn't any Wherigo caches in the area for WAGB21 in Albany, I decided to pop out a nice simple one.
This is especially for the kids. So parents, hand the smart phone over to the little ones for this easy game.
You will need to download the cartidge from the link below. Some basic information and instructions on Wherigo caches are at the end of this listing.
Here is a link to the cartridge. Enjoy !!!
What is a Wherigo Geocache ?
A wherigo geocache is a different type of geocache. It allows you to "play" what is called a cartridge on certain GPS units and also most smart phones using the relevant app. The apps are free and can be found on your relevant smartphone app store or play store. Just search for wherigo and you should find it there.

The geocaches have a different icon (which you have probably already seen) that looks like the one above, and can be a lot of fun.
How do I play these ?
This cartridge can be played on Wherigo compatible GPS units and smartphone apps. If you get stuck, you can check out my basic "How to Wherigo" page. The website is in its infancy so excuse the rest.
A direct link is here to take you to the cartridge.
Any Tips ?
- Make sure you have your location services turned on. Both in general, and also within your app settings.
- Please make sure your sound is on as well (will add to the experience).
- Wherigo cartridges are created to run on multiple devices. As a result, screen sizes can be a concern. If you see an image but no text, scroll down.
- GPSrs and smartphones have different levels of GPS accuracy. So, if you are running a Wherigo cartridge with someone using another type of device, “zone” results will vary. You may have to walk an addition 5 metres depending on the level of accuracy calculated when you started the cartridge.

Be Patient. Like anything new, they can take a bit to get used to, but are also a fun way to experience a geocache.
