Geocache Description:

Welcome to Burnaby's Central Park and the Korean War Memorial: Ambassador of Peace monument.

A Multi Plier cache - Mission: to flood the Lower Mainland with Multi caches to find!

In October, 2004, the Korean Veterans Association of Canada and the City of Burnaby began discussing the installation of a Korean War Memorial at Central Park. The initiative by the 60,000 strong Korean-Canadian Community based in Burnaby raised nearly one million dollars. The monument, unveiled in July 2007, involves three components: a memorial, a statue—The Ambassador of Peace—and a wall of plaques to recognize the 36 servicemen from British Columbia who made the supreme sacrifice during the Korean War 1950/53 and the Peacekeeping period 1953/56. The Ambassador of Peace is a 3-metre high cast bronze sculpture created by renowned Korean artist Hyun Kuk Cho. It rests on a 2-metre concrete podium. The Korean War Memorial was donated to the City of Burnaby by the Korean Veterans Association of Canada in 2007. - information from: https://collections.burnabyartgallery.ca/ListDetail?q=korean&p=1&ps=1

I am always moved when I see War Memorials, not to glorify war but because of the supreme sacrifice so many in the past and even those today are making for the rest of us.

This is a 2-stage multicache.  In order to find the final co-ordinates, go to the Korean War Memorial and find the plaques of some Canadians who gave their lives in the Korean War and update the co-ordinates:

Final co-ordinates: N49 13.BCA  W123 01.FED

A = Currie, Clarence John (day 2nd digit)

B = Heath, John Kenneth - military cross (month)

C = Liska, Vince (day)

D = Alford, Charles Martin (month)

E = Lapka, William (day)

F = Michaud, Rene (month)

Checksum for the 3 digits for North coords is 16 and West coords is 18.

Apologies that some of the plaques are hard to read but hopefully they are clear enough to read the day and month!

As always, please remember you're in a park, be careful when you are looking to not damage any of the trees, shrubs and other vegeation.  Be VERY aware of muggles!  They're everywhere!  :)

Good luck!
