Geocache Description:

Welcome to Livingston County’s Bicentennial GeoTrail!

My name is Find R. Fox. I’ll be your guide to super-sleuthing the hides at these amazing, historical locations all around our beautiful 200-year-old county!

To make your travel through history a bit easier, imagine yourself in a Time Machine (your best mode of transportation will do). Set the dial (your gps unit) to the first year (coordinates) listed below, check the waypoints for Parking and push the navigate button! Whirl your way there then switch your coordinates as needed to navigate to the geocache to sniff out the container and sign the log sheet. Good Luck & Enjoy the journey!!

Please visit between 8 AM - 9 PM. Please do NOT block doors, use parking area. If there is an activity in progress, please strongly consider visiting another day. Finally, please leave anything else out back alone.

Formed in 1975 as the West Sparta Independent Volunteer Fire Department No. 1, the fire company built its fire hall on land purchased with donations and stocked the hall with several older vehicles. The department enlisted 45 active volunteers during its training period, including four women firefighters.

In 1996, a new fire hall was constructed on the same site and the old building became a picnic pavilion.

Initially, the West Sparta Volunteer Fire Department provided fire protection to part of the town of West Sparta while other sections were covered by Groveland and Dansville companies. Today, the West Sparta department services the town of West Sparta and also responds to mutual aid calls from Nunda, Mount Morris, Groveland and Dansville.

For some, teamwork MAY be necessary, therefore we added that attribute. Please replace as found.

Thanks to the West Sparta Fire Chief for permission to place this cache along with the place to hide it!
