Ramparts of Onogost
The fortress was built by the Turks in XVIII century after the conquest of the Slavic Onogošt. The fortress was always a place of battles for the town during the many wars, the last battle at the walls of the bastion took place in 1878, when Nikšić was set free by Montenegrin Prince Nikola I. Then Niksic gradually started to become urban settlement, and the need of fortifications was not required any more. The town start living a new life, attracting new settlers.
From time to time the fortress hosts various cultural events including the annual Bedem Rock Fest.
