Koirasalmen luontotuvan pihapiirissä oleva helppo ja nopea kätkö kansallispuiston kävijöille ja luonnosta nauttijoille. Suurin ongelma kätkön hakemisessa lienee paikalla pyörivät jästit. :) Työntekijät ovat tietoisia kätköstä. Kätkö ei ole linnunpöntössä, annathan linnuille pesimärauhan.
• Koirasalmen luontotupa on entinen savottakämppä ja samalla alueensa nuorin savottarakennus. Rakennus on vuodelta 1956, samoin kuin rakennuksen pihapiiristä löytyvät puuliiteri, vanha hevostalli sekä rannassa sijaitseva sauna.
• Alueella tehtiin savottatöitä vielä 1960-luvun loppupuolella jolloin rakennus palveli savottatöissä olevien majoituspaikkana. Talossa asui myös kämppäemäntä, jonka tehtävänä oli ruokkia nälkäiset työmiehet raskaiden työpäivien aikana. Nykyisin kämppäemännän huone keittiön vieressä on majoitustoiminnan käytössä.
• Rakennus peruskorjattiin vuonna 1993 retkeilijöille. Retkeilytoiminta oli kuitenkin vielä melko vähäistä nykyiseen verrattuna ja 90-luvulla ja 2000-luvun alkupuolella alue olikin lähinnä kalastajien käytössä.
• Tänä päivänä rakennuksen omistaa edelleen Metsähallitus joka on edelleenvuokrannut sen yrittäjän käyttöön retkeilijöiden luonto- ja opastuskeskukseksi.

An easy and quick cache in the yard of the Koirasalmi nature hut for visitors to the national park and nature lovers. The biggest problem in finding a cache is probably muggles all around the spot. :) Workers know about this geocache. Cache is not in a birdhouse, let little birds and their parents be alone.
• Koirasalmi Nature Hut is a former lumberjack house and at the same time the youngest lumberjack house in its area. The building dates from 1956, as well as a wooden shed, an old horse stable and a sauna on the beach.
• Lumber work continued in the area back in the late 1960s, when the building served as accommodation for lumberjacks. The house was also inhabited by a "kämppäemäntä", woman whose job was to feed hungry workers during heavy working days. Today, her room next to the kitchen is used for accommodation.
• The building was renovated in 1993 for hikers. However, hiking was still relatively small compared to today, and in the 1990s and early 2000s the area was mainly used by fishermen.
• Today, the building is still owned by Metsähallitus, which has subleased it to an entrepreneur as a nature and information center for hikers.
