Geocache Description:

Is this Victoria’s most southerly webcam? See yourself at maccamob’s forty second cache. You can view it at http://www.portofmelbourne.com/Community-and-recreation/View-the-port/Webcams, then select Point Lonsdale - West.

The camera now has user pan and tilt controls (zooming is disabled when the camera looks at the beach), so may not be pointed in the ideal direction when first viewed. If so, use the "Click here to take control of camera" button, and use the controls to point the camera at your position.

You will have two minutes of control available to do this. Hard right and max down is usually best. We suggest you practice using the controls before you get there so you know what to expect, and to ensure the camera is working. The image is not particularly large, so you’ll need to wear something distinctive and/or do something unusual to be distinguishable. Post the photo when you log your find. The camera looks roughly in a westerly direction, so a morning visit, to avoid afternoon sun glare, will give better results. If you aren't equipped to control the camera yourself, you will need to arrange for a friend at a computer to control the camera and record your photo from the web cam.

To make your trip more interesting and productive, there is a ‘historic’ cave nearby, and the area is home to the threatened Hooded Plover. There are also several other caches within a 10km radius, although you might have to travel a bit further to get to them.
