This little corner plot of land, which consists of a small playground, a mini pedestrian bridge, and swings, then stretches along Pickford Drive to a soccer field, was reserved for recreational park purposes, mostly for the residents of a new section of the former City of Kanata called Katimavik-Hazeldean in the early to mid 1980s. The play area really isn't a real attraction as much as some of the other larger park playgrounds. The swings and a bench are set away in a corner but are fairly close to the back fence of a residence which was built a number of years after the rest of the community.

The main attraction to this park is the shade that the mature cedars provide and benches to sit upon. It's also remarkably quiet seeing as it right next to a feeder street to this section of Kanata (hence the name "Gate"). A city bus went by while I was in the darkest hollow of the park and could barely hear it!
Things have certainly changed along Irwin Gate which may reflect in the popularity of this park. A huge modern house has been built on Irwin Gate which abuts onto the edge of the park; a selling point for the buyer, but maybe not so much for visitors to the park.
There is a spot to sit down to record your log close to GZ (heck, you can even see it in the photo on the cache page!) or a little further away if you choose to have some shade and more privacy.
GOOD LUCK!!!
