Abingdon’s caboose now sits between the century-old train station and the older freight building that houses The Arts Depot. The train station, originally built for passengers, now houses the Washington County Historical Society. The freight depot was built in 1869, for freight and passenger use.
Norfolk & Western Railway Caboose 555091 type C-32p one of 100 manufactured in August 1976 by the International Railway Car Company of Kenton, Ohio. Restored in 2009 now stands proudly in the Abingdon, Virginia Depot Square.
