Geocache Description:


Suspension bridges were starting to be built in NZ in the 1870s, and the Nile River was one of the early ones

The original bridge was built on these abutments and used for 65years until it was replaced by the present bridge built upstream  100mtrs  and is visible from here on State Highway 6.

The Kawatiri Coastal Trail  planners have utilised these heritage concrete  abutments of the old bridge in their new trail bridge design.

A P&G the Cache is a small pill bottle, has log only bring a pen.
