This little park and grab cache hide brings you to one of Homer's hidden delights - the Karen A. Hornaday Hillside Park. The view from here is simply stunning. Located at about 900' above sea level, just a block west of the city's hospital, is a fantastic playground amidst a park featuring pavilions, picnic locations and ballfields. This site is one of my grandkids' favorite places! Just above the park is a city campground. Please note that during breakup the dirt road leading up to the park from pavement can be a bit challenging to folks with low-clearance vehicles, or who are unused to 'flexible-surface' roadbeds! City road maintenance takes pretty good care of the access road, but at any given moment it can be a bit... exciting.
