Geocache Description:

This cache is on the Fayette Co. Historical Trail.  You can pick up the Fayette Co. Historical Trail Passport at the Fayette Co. Historical Society Museum, 517 Columbus Ave.  Finding all the caches on the trail can earn you a geocoin.

As a sign of respect, know that there are no caches hidden on or immediately around any grave sites.  Access to this site is via the street leading up to the cemetery.  There is nothing on or around the adjacent railroad tracks.

Washington Court House was founded in 1810 by American Revolutionary War Veterans from Virginia. The Old Washington Cemetery was established the same year. When the railroads came, the cemetery was reduced in size to one half, with those removed buried in the New Washington Cemetery.  Approximately one hundred and twelve remain. The earliest settlers of the county are buried in this small cemetery. The names are reflected throughout the city and county.
