R2 Rescue Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Roxosaurus: Sadly, archiving this cache and series. After several of the stages of the series have repeatedly gone missing, now the final has been stolen. A lot of work went into creating a pretty cool final container, so it's too bad more folks didn't have a chance to find it. Maybe I’ll try again another time.

Geocache Description:

Cache IS NOT at the listed coordinates. (Note: 3/13/2023 - Several of the caches in this series have gone missing on multiple occasions. We still want folks to search for the final as we had a great time constructing it, and hope cachers like it. We are currently trying to find new locations for the missing caches, however in the meantime, we've provided the missing clues in the below description. If you are working on this series and find a cache is missing, please send us a message as we're happy to help with the missing info. We apologize for the inconvenience.)

Help us *omitted*, you’re our only hope!

This is our most desperate hour. Our trusted astromech droid, R2-D2, has gone missing and we fear the worst! Within his memory core is information vital to the Rebel Alliance and our fight against the Galactic Empire. Jedi Knight Tren Rhim, has been in hiding since Order 66 was issued by the Emperor to destroy the Jedi. However Tren Rhim has made contact with us! He claims to have the galactic coordinates that will lead us to R2-D2!

In order to maintain secrecy, he must hide portions of R2’s coordinates in data caches around this sector. Once the coordinate pieces have been gathered, combine them to reveal the location of our trusted friend!

Fortunately 5 of 6 data caches can be found within roughly a 2-mile loop starting and ending at either of the docking port options listed on the applicable data cache pages. Once you’ve located R2-D2, to access his memory core you will need to know the Earth release year of the holonet documentary, commonly referred to as “Star Wars” or by its episodic title “A New Hope.” Note: You will need to re-scramble the combination in order to relock his memory core when your mission is complete.

The data caches containing the final coordinates for R2 are as follows:

R2 Rescue: Episode I (GC9CAVC) NOTE: Currently missing and disabled, clue for this stage is N 40°

R2 Rescue: Episode II (GC9CAWF)

R2 Rescue: Episode III (GC9CAWR)

R2 Rescue: Episode IV (GC9CAWZ) NOTE: Currently missing and disabled, clue for this stage is W 104°

R2 Rescue: Episode V (GC9CAYJ)

R2 Rescue: Episode VI (GC9CAYT) NOTE: Currently missing and disabled, clue for this stage is .348

Good luck, and may the Force be with you!

We hope you enjoy the series. It was the brainchild of our 8-year-old son. The difficulity rating is based on the number prerequisite caches needed. There is plenty of room for swag and trackables! FTF will get an unactivated Mars Perseverance geocoin!
