Battle Of Berkhamsted:

In 1865 Lord Brownlow attempted to fence off 400 acres of common land on Berkhamsted Common. Local people objected but in 1866 he put on iron fence around it and cut off all the paths. At 3am on March 6th, 1866, a night-time raid resulted in the fences being torn down.
