This cache is dedicated to GeneP.
Gene was the last cacher to DNF our previous cache in this area. This should be a fairly easy and straight-forward cache. You are looking for a small lock-n-lock container located on the Penn State Erie (The Behrend College) Campus. There is room for a few trade items and an unregister travel tag for the FTF. There are several parking areas available. Please mind where you park, especially when the college is in session and please follow all rules and regulations of the campus.
The cache is located in a small wooded area near the Behrend Soccer & Track Fields. Please be respectful of the area and any sporting events that may be going on. There are multiple trails and caches around the campus that are open to the public.
Over the years, we have had the pleasure of caching with GeneP on multiple occasions. We have always enjoyed his company and his stories. He is one of the only people that we know who actually IS as smart as a rocket scientist because he was one. Perhaps one of the most memorable moments with Gene was a time when we were caching along with GoonieNanny. We were bushwhacking through bamboo and weeds taller than all of us. Gene had me take the lead as he was tired of me striking the back of his legs with my walking stick as if he was being forced to march ahead of me. After taking the point, I came across a deep water section that we were going to have to navigate over. I shouted back to the others that there was deep water but that our trio could make it as it was "jumpable". Gene quickly shouted back and questioned my statement and asked just exactly what "jumpable" meant and reminded me that his "jumping days" were probably now behind him.
