View of Heron Point from Burch Mountain
From up on Burch Mountain this looked like a great place to have a cache. That's easier said than done. Getting here is a challenge. This is a boat cache. Motoring up the main stream of the river or paddling along the shoreline is a very pleasant approach with lots of bird watching opportunities. Look for the cache's namesake. Bring a picnic and enjoy being in the middle of the Columbia River.
However, be forewarned! Land access is prevented by muddy swamps, thorny thickets, blackberry brambles, poison ivy, and restricted private orchards with high fences, gates with locks, and "No Trespassing" signs. This is a boat cache.
Note the difficulty and terrain ratings. At any time, water levels can vary unpredictably because of dam flows, rain, and snow melt. Do use caution and search at your own risk. Near GZ you may also encounter boulders, brambles, and some bushwhacking.
You are seeking a camouflaged metal bottle with a high-water harness. There is room for small SWAG and trackables. Please re-hide so everything is out of sight and secure from floating away. FTF gets a small cash reward.
