Kutsumme itse Hallainvuorta Kallainvuoreksi koiramme Kallan mukaan. Siellä risteilee polkuja koiraihmisten kulkea. Sieltä törmää myös suunnistajiin,marjastajiin,sienestäjiin ja maastopyöräilijöihin -kaikki sulassa sovussa. Eteläosan kallioilta on upeat maisemat Viikin peltojen yli Kaukana häämöttävät Kalasatamat tornitalot.
Helsingin luonnonsuojelualueohjelman mukaisesti alue on kasvistoltaan arvokasta lehtoaluetta
Viikin peltojen itäpuolella sijaitseva laajahko, maisemallisesti näyttävä kallioylänköalue, jolla on sekä kasvistollisia, linnustollisia että geologisia arvoja. Alue on osa Herttoniemen suunnasta pohjoiseen suuntautuvaa metsäkäytävää. Metsäiset väli- ja avokalliopinnat vaihtelevat Hallanvuorella mosaiikkimaisesti. Puusto on pääosin nuorta ja varttuvaa männikköä. Yksittäisiä, näyttäviä kilpikaarnaisia mäntyjä on siellä täällä. Pensaskerroksessa kasvaa koivua, mäntyä, katajaa ja pihlajaa. Kuivuuteen kuolleita keloutuneita mäntyjä on melko paljon, myös kuollutta maapuuta on jonkinverran.
Hallainvuoren monipuolisessa linnustossa on hyvin edustettuna havumetsien peruslajit. Lisäksi alueella on tavattu mm. palokärki, silmälläpidettävä sirittäjä ja harvinainen idänuunilintu. Kallioalueen eteläpäässä on muinaisrantakivikko ja kookas siirtolohkare, joka on Viipurin rapakiveä.
LIFE PREVAILS Hallainvuori is the primary dog walking area for my family, and we call it Kallainvuori after our dog Kalla. The area is criss-crossed with paths, making it a delightful area for enjoy a walk into nature, with or without a canine companion. You’re likely to meet runners enjoying orienteering, people gathering berries or mushrooms, mountains bikers, everyone enjoying the area in their way. From the scrags into the southern end of Hallainvuori one can enjoy a spectacular view over Viikki fields, all the way to the towering buildings of Kalasatama in the distance. The nature preservation program of Helsinki defines the Hallainvuori area as an area of groves with a unique flora of its own. It is a wide, scenic upland area valued for its flora, birdlife and geology. It is a part of a forested wildlife passage that extends far to the north, combining with other forests, and in the south culminates in wildlands in Herttoniemi. The open rocky surfaces and wooded areas give it a distinctive mosaic nature. The majority of the trees are young pines, with older distinctive pine trees with a shield pattern on their bark. In the bush layer underneath one can find small birch, pine, juniper and birch trees. There are also some dead trees on the ground, and dried up still standing deadwood, mostly pine. The birds in Hallainvuori area are diverse, with a good presentation of most specific typical for coniferous forests. Among the rarer species there are some black woodpeckers, wood warblers and the rare greenish warblers. In the south ended of the craggy area one can find ancient shore outcrops and a sizable glacial erratic with Viborg grus
