National
Moth
Week
What started out as a summer time moth night gathering with friends, evolved into a state wide promotion of events in the state of New Jersey and quickly spread to become a National Moth Week, all across the US. Now in it's tenth year, National Moth Week is celebrated world wide in many countries and on six continents.
Come join us and learn a little about a few of the more than 11,000 species of moths that live in the US alone. This is sure to be a unique event and a good time for folks of all ages.

Activities:
We will start the evening with a cook out and pot luck dinner. Everyone brings a small dish to share and there's sure to be plenty of food for everyone. There will be a raffle table with a variety of items. Purchase tickets at the table to win, along with a 50/50 raffle for a chance to win some cash. We will have a trivia contest to test your knowledge of moths and maybe learn a few things about moths too. UV lights and a sheet will be set up (far away from the food pavilion) to attract moths and other insects and we will photograph and identify what we find. There are a few night caches in the park already and there maybe a few more posted on the night of this event. This is a night event and officially ends at 10:00pm, but will certainly go late into the night as we hunt for moths around the UV lights and geocaches deep in the forest.
Date: Friday, July 16th

Covid-19 considerations
We will observe the current CDC guidelines at the time of the event. This event is being held outdoors and tables will be spaced farther apart to allow better flow around the area under the pavilion. As per current guidelines those who have been vaccinated will not be required to wear a mask, however if you feel more comfortable wearing a mask, that will be perfectly acceptable. There will be no double dipping of chips into dip, once a bite has been taken from said chip it must be consumed entirely.
