Geocache Description:

If you didn't know, the Georgia Geocachers Association (GGA) held its first ever event on June 9th, 2001.  That means on June 9th, 2021, the GGA turns 20.  Yay!

To celebrate this huge birthday, we decided to place a GGA geoart!  And to make it a little different, this is a wherigo geoart!  Tallk about cool!  Considering there are currently only 43 active Wherigos in the state, the 33 that are part of this geoart will nearly double that!  Yay!

If you haven't done a Wherigo before don't worry.  You will follow the process here for each one:

  1. Download the Wherigo by clicking the link here (Note: You will download one Wherigo for each cache in the geoart)
  2. Start the Wherigo using a Wherigo player on your smartphone.  There are players available for both Android and iPhone and these Wherigos have been tested on all three of the smartphone apps.  They may also work on select GPS-r devices, but have NOT been tested there.  Note that these are all "Play Anywhere" Wherigos, so you can play them from any location.  There will be no movement necessary to get the coodinates!
  3. Play the Wheirgo.  They are super-simple.  You will be asked a trivia question about the GGA or geocaching in Georgia.  Answer the question correctly and you get the coordinates to the cache!
  4. Go find the physical cache!  Sign the log!!    YAY!!

That's it!

If you have any problems running the Wherigos, please let us know and we will do our best to help you.  If you have never done a Wherigo before, these are great ones to start with as they are VERY easy!

Enjoy the Geoart and be sure to check out the next GGA event!  They are typically held the second weekend of the month, with the exception of April and October.  The GGA is the world's oldest Geocaching organization.  There is no charge to attend a GGA event and all are welcome (even if you don't live in Georgia!).  So, what are you waiting for-- stop on by!
