In 2003, Greater Taree Council purchased 500ha of farmland on the lower Manning floodplain for environmental rehabilitation. It is now a beautiful costal wetland which is home to kangaroos, wallabies, reptiles, and over 180 bird species. Visitor facilities include car parking, toilets, picnic areas, boardwalks, viewing platforms, and interpretive signage. The wetland walk including a little detour up to the Spring Hill lookout is about 3km and will take around an hour to complete. Please take note of the opening hours and plan your visit accordingly (8am-3pm Monday to Friday and 7am-5pm weekends). Insect repellant is highly recommended year round!
