Welcome to Livingston County’s Bicentennial GeoTrail!
My name is Find R. Fox. I’ll be your guide to super-sleuthing the hides at these amazing, historical locations all around our beautiful 200-year-old county!
To make your travel through history a bit easier, imagine yourself in a Time Machine (your best mode of transportation will do). Set the dial (your gps unit) to the first year (coordinates) listed below, check the waypoints for Parking and push the navigate button! Whirl your way there then switch your coordinates as needed to navigate to the geocache to sniff out the container and sign the log sheet. Good Luck & Enjoy the journey!!

Daylight hours only for both the start and end of this cache.
In 2006, the Town of York Historical Society purchased what is known as the Samuel Warren homestead on Dow Road in the town of York for use as a museum. The home was built in the 1830s by Samuel Warren, the first commercial winemaker in Livingston County and likely the first in the entire Finger Lakes region. Warren is also purported to be the first person to discover in 1835 that salt lies below the surface in the town of York.
Warren planted a large vineyard on his farm in the late 1820s and records show his wine production reached 3400 gallons in 1853. Following Warren’s death in 1862, his sons continued the operation of York Wines until 1882, when the DL&W Railroad was granted a right-of-way which destroyed the Warren’s wine production.
Don't be alarmed! Yes, this is a 5 stage multi-cache, starting with a puzzle at Warren Homestead (because there is a cache already present), then driving to an area recently explored and opened up called Little Italy. However, after the puzzle, the waypoints are in bison tube bottles on man-made objects. The final is a lock n lock. There is a letter of the description for the waypoint and the final that will help you to find the bison tube bottles and final, if you should need it.
Pants, hiking boots, and a long-sleeved shirt are recommended for the final area. Paths are mown, but better to be safe than sorry. NOTE: In final area, you will see parts of former crumbling basements from foundations of previous houses. Please keep a watchful eye on kids and dogs.
Information for WP2 comes off the sign near the listing coordinates. WP2 is at N 42 50.HAR, W 77 5V.EST where
H = Last digit in beginning year
A = Number of letters in last word of first line
R = Total of last 2 digits in salt year
V = Number of letters in 4th line
E = Number of the letter 'B' (large or small) on sign
S = How many times the word 'First' is used
T = How many times the word 'Town' is used

You can validate your puzzle solution with certitude.
For those not using the checker: the sum of the North coordinates = the sum of the West Coordinates plus 2
