This standing stone is something that we didn't see and then while driving down the Killinchy road and then all of a sudden we started seeing this prominent stone. At first we thought this was because we hadnt been paying attention but apparently this stone was actually erected in connection with the Equine activities in the area. Its under 1 km to Ballygraffan Portal Tomb just up the road and so we had thought that this was a genuine standing stone. There is supposed to be another stone in this area according to maps and so when I first checked I thought that this was it. This may be a resurrection of an original stone that got buried, but imagine my relief that I hadn't just missed this for years and that it was a new addition.
Apparently the Horse jump nearby is called Hughs stone as Hugh was the name of the man who discovered the stone while excavating and erected it. This stone has caused confusion for many in and around the area because it was not visible and then popped up.
