
The cache is located from where this picture was taken. Before I was old enough to go to school, I remember hearing the children playing here, from across the valley. Then as I grew up, we use to meet friends inside. Before I was out of school this old building got torn down. Now it's only a memory.

There were two school districts in the Deep Creek Valley in the North Okanagan: Hillcrest School to the south and Deep Creek School to the north. The first classes in Deep Creek were held in a small shed on the Davison property, and later moved to the Watkins' house. In 1925, a proper one-storey frame school was built on the Watkins' property, SE 1/4, Sec 17, Tshp 19, R9, W6. Deep Creek resident Merlin Dunwoodie had the contract to build the school for $2,650. The building was covered in 1x6 shiplap with a shingle roof. It was completed in August 1925. The school closed in the early 1970s.
