This is one in a series of geocaches placed by Texas A&M Forest Service to showcase various aspects of the agency and properties it manages. This is located at the Idalou Office, which includes the West Texas Nursery.
West Texas Nursery first opened its doors in 1978 producing trees primarily West Texas for windbreaks and conservation plantings. In 2008, 53 acres were purchased just outside of Idalou for a new facility. This facility includes 2 greenhouses, a shade house, and 15 acres dedicated to the production of bareroot hardwood seedlings. The greenhouse can accommodate more than 100,000 containerized seedlings each year.
The Idalou Office is open from 8 am to 5 pm, Monday-Friday. For additional information, visit us at 7914 East Hwy 62, Idalou, TX 79329 or call (806) 892-3572.
