The standing stones of the Isle of Mull are often arranged in the form of a small row of between three and five stones, and the Baliscate stones are no different - although the middle stone has fallen.
An excavation in 2004 revealed that the original position of the recumbent stone was approximately equidistant between the two upright standing stones. In addition, the stump of a fourth, smaller stone was uncovered to the north of the row. Close to the base of this stone, cut into the prehistoric ground surface, a very small cremation burial was also discovered.
The cache is a short (uphill) walk from the suggested parking coordinates. Follow the signs towards the stones. There is no need to climb any gates, but you will have to clamber over a rather old metal stile. Bring your own pen. The cache will probably be wet, but the log is waterproof so you should be able to leave your mark.
Please park at the suggested coordinates, and do not attempt to drive any closer to the cache.
