Hidden Pond

Short hike on the paved trail to Stage 1 nearby Hidden pond. The large open meadows nearby is such a treat to explore with a natural habitat for variety of wildlife including including bees, butterflies, birds, white-tailed deer, red fox, and other small animals that make their home here. Parking is nearby the entrance of Hidden Pond trail.

Managed by the Bureau of Land Management - Eastern States, the Meadowood Special Recreation Management Area (SRMA)is an 800-acre mosaic of gently sloping open meadows, mature hardwood forests, freshwater ponds, creeks, streams, and riparian wetlands. This diverse habitat supports a great variety of wildlife, including white-tailed deer, red fox, coyote, beaver, raccoons, hawks, eagles, reptiles, amphibians, and more. Meadowood, which is home to 30 species of migratory songbirds, is within the National Audubon Society’s Lower Potomac River Important Bird Area. Fishing is allowed in the two ponds at Meadowood. Both Hidden Pond and Enchanted Pond are stocked with bass, bluegill, catfish, and crappie. A Virginia fishing license is required.
